Hula Earth Raises €1.6M to Transform Nature Monitoring for Global Industries

Munich, Germany — Hula Earth has secured €1.6 million in pre-seed funding to scale its automated biodiversity monitoring platform. The round was led by Point Nine Capital, with participation from Climate Founders, Partners in Clime, WithEarth, and notable entrepreneurs including Lawrence Leuschner (Tier Mobility), Kilian Kaminsky (Refurbed), Florian Hildebrand (Greenlyte Carbon Technologies), and Markus Linder (Zoovu). Furthermore, the European Space Agency (ESA) officially supports the venture.Hula Earth's platform tackles the rapid decline in global biodiversity, where 69% of wildlife populations have been lost in the past 50 years. Experts estimate achieving nature-positive goals by 2030 requires annual investments of $967 billion.

"More than half of the global GDP is dependent on nature," says Florian Geiser, Co-Founder and CEO of Hula Earth. "Only by monitoring its condition with real data captured onsite and working towards a future-proof state can we ensure access to ecosystem services as well as food and medicine security for future generations."

The company's breakthrough lies in its two-part monitoring system:

  • 🤖 A network of proprietary smart sensors (BioT devices) that automatically collect environmental data and bioacoustic recordings, capable of identifying over 6,000 different species
  • 🛰️ Advanced integration of ground-level data with satellite imagery, creating comprehensive biodiversity insights

This automated approach eliminates the traditional challenges of manual data collection while providing unprecedented scalability for large areas. The technology enables companies across food production, cosmetics manufacturing, and infrastructure to track environmental impact throughout their value chains, reduce business risks through improved biodiversity management, and make data-driven sustainability decisions.

"Biodiversity loss is one of the defining challenges of our generation. We are convinced that technology can help organizations measure and manage their impact on biodiversity, but scalable solutions have been missing. Hula's approach, combining hardware and software technologies in one integrated biodiversity monitoring platform, impressed us. We are excited to be backing the team behind Hula on their important mission," says Pawel Chudzinski from Point Nine Capital.

"Fortunately, many companies with land use already optimize for biodiversity to increase climate resilience and crop quality," adds Florian. "The demand for primary data is rapidly increasing, not only due to new reporting requirements." The fresh capital will support Hula Earth's expansion plans. The technology, launched earlier this year, is already helping businesses on their path to becoming nature-positive.
