Case Study
Naturland Zeichen GmbH x Hula Earth
Naturland and Hula make the value of biodiversity visible
Since March 2026, Naturland Zeichen GmbH and Hula Technologies GmbH have been working together to further develop approaches to measuring biodiversity and ecosystem services.
The starting point
Practical experience and technology, not yet connected through data
Preserving biological diversity is one of the central challenges of our time. Biodiversity and intact ecosystems are increasingly recognised as the foundation of future-ready agriculture and resilient value chains. Since 2023, Naturland has supported farms in implementing measures that promote biodiversity through its “Für mehr Artenvielfalt” programme. With around 950 participating farms covering 23,000 hectares, it is one of the largest initiatives of its kind in Germany and Austria.
The Hula solution
Practical experience meets sensor and satellite technology
Since March 2026, Naturland Zeichen GmbH and Hula Technologies GmbH have been working together to further develop approaches to measuring and evaluating biodiversity and ecosystem services.
- Hula collects, analyses and interprets standardised data from sensor and satellite technology
- Naturland connects farms in the programme with partners in processing and retail
- Shared goal: use data to make the implementation of biodiversity measures visible
Outlook
A long-term development process
Both partners see the collaboration as a long-term process that brings together innovation, practical experience and a shared ambition to make the value of biodiversity more visible to agriculture, businesses and society.
"Biodiversity and intact ecosystems are the foundation of future-ready agriculture and resilient value chains. Together with Hula, we are working to make their value more visible and raise awareness among businesses and society."
